Here are some summary wide shots of the left-hand side of hoarding around the North Street demolition site that was painted during HTN18, with Verz’s brown- and blue-eyed dog front and centre.

A wide shot is below; to the left of of Verz’s (ig) dog are a boy by Caoilfhionn Hanton (ig), a skull and “TV” by Ominous Omin (ig), and (out of frame but included last, below) some writing by SHUK (ig).

To the right (in the wide shot below) are JMK’s Mountains Of The Mind, Danni Simpson’s The Butterfly Counts Not Months But Moments, Holly Pereira’s Just Because You Feel It, Doesn’t Mean It’s There, and (out of frame) Esther O’Kelly’s Eden Vale. Valar Morghulis

Dublin art collective subset (ig | twweb) has been battling Dublin County Council over the permissions process for street art in the city since the council ordered the removal of its 2017 mural of rapper Stormzy in December of that year (RTÉ). The ongoing protests currently take the form of the group’s Grey Area Project (video | Huck).

Here are the first two panels (of six) of their their ‘Valar Morghulis‘ piece in Lower Donegall Street when some members came north for CNBX/HTN18 in September. The first piece replaces Lisa Murphy’s 2017 CNB piece, which we called Ecstasy. The second is by weaks (ig).

You Are Enough

Anti-suicide “messages of hope” were originally posted around the Cavehill in August (ITV) but were removed in September (Belfast Live) before being replaced – as shown in these images. Similar posters on the Foyle Bridge in London-/Derry were last week slated for removal at the end of January, pending a 12-week “public consultation process” (BelTel).

Live Free

The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights was declared 70 years ago, on December 10th, 1948. emic (tw | web) and the Northern Ireland Human Rights Council teamed up to mark the occasion with this CNBX/HTN18 piece of street art.

Below is another new emic ‘hand’ – compare with Hands and A Lifeboat From Despair.

Buoys-A-Buoys

Since the 1980s (BBC | BelTel), Belfast’s maritime history has been celebrated in the form of three buoys outside the Belfast School of Art (known to all as “the art college) in York Street. They were given a face-lift during CNBX/HTN18 by DMC (ig) (above) and (in the middle, below) KVLR (tw) and (on the left) Nol (web | ig | Fb).
