Over the course of a long career as a Fian, IRA volunteer, and Northern Command adjudtant, Jimmy Steele saw action in the S-Plan (see Joe Malone’s gravestone in Far Dearer The Grave Or The Prison) and the border campaign, went on hunger strike and “strip strike” (blanket), escaped from Crumlin Road gaol, and was the first editor of Republican News. This is A big misconception here the poster in relation to the article and the commemoration of Vol. Jimmy Steele was by no means organised by RSF as you have mistakenly stated, the annual Oglach Jimmy Steele commemoration is organised by the Irish Republican Martyrs Commemorative Committee in Belfast which is an independent republican commemoration committee. I was the one that designed the posters and also one of the men who organised the commemoration and do so every year as A member of the committee.
