The Girl With The Flaxen Hair

Here’s a mural by Friz (who was featured painting in east Belfast), on the Cupar Way peace line. This mural went up earlier this (2012) summer, but it is already covered in signatures and messages from tourists, who are encouraged to write on (some of?) the pieces on Cupar Way. There’s a “clean” version on Friz’s own blog.

Bundoran Banksy

“Copyright is for losers © TM – Banksy”. A “Banksy”, about Banksy, in Bundoran.

The statement on the left appears on the printer’s page inside the cover of Wall And Piece, but is immediately followed by “Against his better judgment, Banksy has asserted his right under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 …”!

For Banksy, see banksy.co.uk, WP.

The Dude Abides

According to IMDb, “the dude abides” is a reference to Ecclesiastes 1:4: “One generation passes away, and another generation comes, but the Earth abides forever.”

Welcome To The New Lodge

This is an end-of-life shot of the mural at the pedestrian entrance to the New Lodge. In the front is a landscape scene with “Welcome” in different languages; in the rear are street art figures and signatures; but graffiti covers all.

(Update: It was replaced in 2014 – both front and rear – by ‘old New Lodge’ images.)

In Vogue

This piece of wild-style writing by RASER and AKEN of TMN krew (which replaces last year’s eagle) is remarkable for its location, which is on the Falls Road just past the Falls/Glen roundabout (site of the former RUC barracks). As such, it is (still) the only piece of non-sectarian art in a CNR area. This wall is presumably painted with the permission (and perhaps at the invitation of) the owners of the salon.
