This board is on the end of the Hubb Community Resources Centre and Bowling Club in St. Vincent Street; across the street is Crusaders football ground.
From the Tele: “The building was once the home for local Civil Defence during World War II’s ‘Blitz’. This building is now the one of the last remaining Civil Defence structures in Northern Ireland and has also played home to the local Senior Bowls Club for many years.” The mural also shows bombed-out homes and children going off to the countryside. The home of YRCD Bowling Club.
Thanks very much for the link to my badge, there is a mural inside the bowling club of the late John Higgins, former Irish International bowler and member of YRCD. John received over 50 caps playing for Ireland at senior international level. John, also was Irish singles champion, Irish triples champion, John was also NIBA champion at singles, pairs, triples and fours. John also won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games representing Northern Ireland. John also won a World Championship bronze for the triples in South Africa. John played his bowls for the York Road Civil Defence Bowling Club http://www.flickr.com/photos/57741776@N05/8057783304/
Can the Hub be updated to a modern building for all groups on York Road Shore Road.
