Civil And Religious Liberty For All
The ‘Civil and religious liberty for all’ mural in Cambrai street was ‘in progress’ for a long time. These images are from October 20th (first two) and November 7th (last two), 2011. The mural, showing parades, bonfires, and Northern Ireland football, would eventually be completed in 2012 – see M08228.

Women Through The Ages
A good part of this Enfield Street, Belfast, mural is in fact dedicated to Edward Carson – in the top left are “Sir Edward Carson’s family”, “Sir Edward Carson’s wife”, and “Sir Edward Carson’s mother” and below them is a photograph of Carson presenting colours to the South Belfast Volunteers (see We Won’t Have Home Rule) and another (to the middle) of “Sir Edward Carson being introduced to woman nurses”. In the centre are “Local women preparaing food during UWC strike 1974”. Other images include English monarchs Victoria (Queen Of Ireland, Empress Of India) and Elizabeth, Ulster 1914, and the signing of the Ulster Covenant by women.

Here are two images, from October 2011 and January 2012, of the 1995 “green ribbon” mural by Andrea Redmond in St James’s. It is obscured by fencing and a gate (and a skip) and showing some signs of wear though in quite good shape for its age.

For the 30th anniversary of the second hunger strike, the mosaic portraits of the ten men to die (plus Michael Gaughan and Frank Stagg) used at the Falls Road end of Beechmount Avenue to commemorate the 25th anniversary, are placed around the blanketmen board above the Clowney Street phoenix.

In Vogue
This piece of wild-style writing by RASER and AKEN of TMN krew (which replaces last year’s eagle) is remarkable for its location, which is on the Falls Road just past the Falls/Glen roundabout (site of the former RUC barracks). As such, it is (still) the only piece of non-sectarian art in a CNR area. This wall is presumably painted with the permission (and perhaps at the invitation of) the owners of the salon.
