Faded Glory

These five images show the remains of an Ulster Special Service Force (USSF) mural in Drumahoe Gardens, Millbrook. In addition to the union flag and emblem of the unit, the mural showed the Covenant and Carson, the gunrunning ship Clyde Valley which landed at Larne (not shown here), the garlanded red hand shown above, a memorial lamp post(?) not shown, soldiers from the 36th Division going over the top(fourth), the Ulster Tower and a helmet on a cross (not shown).

Sure It’s Good To Talk

Superheroes Hulk, Captain America, Superman, Spiderman, and Wonder Woman fight isolation and depression by passing out the phone number for the Suicide Awareness And Support Group (90239967) and encouraging people to check on each other in Glenbawn.

The wide shot (third) includes the sporting mural seen previously in Hoops, Stripes & Rings. These murals replace a 2005 piece around casts of local children’s hands – the casts have been retained.

Sandy Row Remembers

“‘A’ Battalion Sandy Row remembers” fellow members of the South Belfast Brigade. The use of poppies in UDA murals is unusual, as it is the Ulster Volunteer Force that shares its name with the Ulster Volunteers who fought in WWI as the 36th (Ulster) Brigade.

This new Sandy Row mural is next to the tiles on the David Scott Tile Refinery.
