The One Ronnie

We went to get images of Glen Molloy’s (ig) new ‘Two Ronnies’ mural in Gresham Street, but it was already being painted over by members of the TMN krew – CASP, ANCO, MASH, ROTER. The one Ronnie above was snapped before the transformation was complete.

Glenfield Community Noticeboard

February 2015 saw the controversial painting of two UDA murals in the Glenfield estate, Carrickfergus. They are now graffitied over with “child beaters”, “fuck ur UDA” (above) and “child molester”, “fuck yerz” and the red hand x’ed out (below). It’s not clear what (or who) the allegations concern.

For the originals, see Glenfield Community Association.

Wandering Arm

A perhaps-unfinished mural of abstract ideas: on the left and right, a scenic view and clouds overlaid with black lattice; in the central portions slate grey rocks and a silhouetted figure with disjoint arm resting on plains of white.

Fáılte Go Dtí Ard Eoın

“Welcome to Ardoyne.” Updated images of a 2014 series of panels in Ardoyne Avenue, celebrating the neighbourhood and reproducing some well-known images from the area. The years have not been kind, with the top layer of brick coming off in many places, including the eyes of boxer Eamonn Magee (?).

For the originals, see Growing Up Too Fast.

Between The Crosses

The “Jesus” tag at the corner of My Lady’s and London roads has been replaced with a WWI mural showing soldiers running through a field of poppies, and which is surrounded by plaques from the Poppy Trail with the details of some of those from the 36th (Ulster) Division who were killed.

By Mark Ervine in London Road.

For the four panels on the right, see Ulsters Brave.
